Kaan Serpersu, Techmer PM’s analytical manager and development engineer, will be speaking at the Fire Retardants in Plastics conference on April 25th to 26th. He’ll speak on the first day during session 2, focused on developing new applications for flame retardant plastics.
The title of Kaan’s presentation is “Antimony and Halogen Free Flame Retardants for Polyolefin Injection Molding Applications.” He’ll focus on the ways in which regulatory and health concerns make it necessary to have non-halogen and non-antimony flame retardant systems.
Kaan will also discuss how magnesium hydroxide is often seen as a viable alternative and that the right grades, resins, and synergists are important for optimal flame retardant properties. Lastly, he will delve into why mechanical properties of magnesium hydroxide-based flame retardant systems need improvement and are an active part of development.
The conference, in its 7th year, will place at the Westin Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Like Kaan’s, presentations will explore trends and technical developments in the international flame retardant industry
