Company Marks One Year without Injuries at Clinton Site, Raises Hourly Wage

CLINTON, Tenn., May 22, 2014 – Techmer PM, a leading producer of value-added colors and additives for the plastics and fiber industries, is pleased to announce two recent developments—a safety milestone and an hourly wage increase—that underscore its commitment to providing a safe, healthy, and competitive workplace for its employees.

Techmer PM’s Clinton, Tenn., location celebrated one year without a lost-time injury on April 25. This represents over 500,000 hours worked for the site. Lost-time injuries occur when an employee is unable to work beyond the day of injury for an on-the-job incident or accident.

The Clinton facility was recognized by SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association for the site’s reductions in injuries over the last year. A luncheon was held to celebrate the occasion.

“We are proud of our employees’ efforts to keep each other safe on the job,” said Ron Lawson, site operations manager. “Without their efforts, we would be unable to achieve this milestone.”

“The record reflects the company’s role as a responsible member of the community, valuing safety and sustainable work practices,” added Matthew Caruso, corporate manager of environment, safety, and health at Techmer PM. “At Techmer PM, we define safety, quality, and teamwork as essential to our success.”

Separately on May 12, Techmer PM raised the starting pay for its local manufacturing employees to $11 an hour as part of a companywide value system that ensures workers receive a compensation package that rewards effort, commitment, and results. Techmer PM’s benefit package includes competitive health and dental insurance, 401k with company match, profit sharing, gym membership, and boot and eyewear vouchers.

“Techmer PM strives to conduct business with a positive effect on our people while also contributing to the quality of life in the communities where we operate,” Lawson said.
